One of my favorite instruments to use with my private clients is the Timber Log Drum. It has a wonderful timbre and my clients are motivated to work for it and with it. We use it practice imitating patterns, to learning numbers, 1:1 correspondence with numbers, turn taking, and bilateral coordination! Some of my clients with Autism who are nonverbal will use their AAC devices to request to play more after verbal prompts. It’s so much fun to see their smiles on their faces while they are playing a fun instrument and working on functional skills.
